Indigo Flight Safety Manual

The turbaned man on the Indigo flight safety manual reminded me of AI’s maharaja :P

This time while flying, I chose to fly Indigo airlines , why you would ask, well because it was the cheapest :P .

There were 6 of us flying on Indigo. We stand in line for checking around 1.5 hours before the departure time. The desk clerk tells us we are 2 kg overweight , ok. So what I ask ?. He smiles , hmmm is this a govt. service or something where he wants a bribe i think. anyway, I tell him we have 6 tickets and we wont pay for a 2kg excess baggage claim and move on. The check-in clerk was left grinning.

Anyway, we start waiting for the boarding call and what a wait it was, we were inside at 11:45am , and our flight was scheduled for 1pm. We waited and waited and waited. It was 12:45 already, still no boarding call, people start getting restless. At 12:50 we finally get the boarding call and board the aircraft. The air hostesses were talking among themselves greeting the odd passenger or 2, but I did get greeted. I said good-morning and walked away in my usual cool style like I owned the place :P .

In flight, the first thing i noticed was the extreme lack of space even by no frill airlines standards. Spicejet i felt provides better space. And add to that the fact that the people in front of me were the kind who would push their seats to the extreme back, the situation wasn’t that good. Immediately after takeoff , the seats were in my face.

No water was served to us which made things pretty hard to handle, Spicejet infact serves water as soon as we board or takeoff. Later on their was a snacks trolley which had free water but it all looked so paid to me that i hesitated to even ask for water , what if they ask me to pay Rs. 1000 for a bottle of water :P . Also no candy was served.

The service otherwise was pretty good. The air-hostesses were polite and seemed friendly. Infact when me and my friend were reading a book, one of them switched on the light above our heads.Later on my friend did gather the courage to ask for a glass of water , i further dug my wallet in deep lest he was thinking I was going to pay.He was handed a pitifully small glass of water. Smaller than the plastic coffee glass you would get at street side vendors. Anyway, the air-hostess went away after serving the water so the moral is that they do serve free water :P

Pros :

Cheap Tickets

Apparently Nice Staff

Clean and Good-looking aircrafts

Cons :

No bottled water/complimentary candy served

Late boarding call led to rush at the counters

Verdict : Indigo is a decent enough airline to fly by in case its offering the cheapest fare :)

You can call for free water any time you want using the button overhead your seat.
