Hello….I’m about to travel to India with my iPhone 3GS. Do you know whether the GPS function will work in New Delhi and around India. Also will the GSP work without being connected to WiFi or any other carrier?

iphone is available for 25000/- with airtel now – 8GB model

also, shortly in usa, at&t will loose its monopoly with iphone – verizon is next.

@Piyush – Vodafone is expected to launch the phone before Airtel, expected date is August end or September starting, as you have prebooked, you can be sure whenever its date is decided you will be among the first to know the date of Iphone launch in India.

Yes the original Iphone didnt have any GPS nor was it ever officially launched in India, that could be a reason why Satguide dont have an Iphone version yet. They use destinator for their maps, if destinator makes an Iphone applicaitons, it might be possible to use Satguide on an Iphone 3G in India.

Yes both the Airtel and Vodafone Iphone shall support EDGE and Wifi foor internet browsing.

@wisetechie – Thats awesome, i am really looking forward to your GPS review, but sorry to hear that Satguide wont work with Airtel or Vodafone Iphone 3G, the earlier Iphone didnt have GPS right ?, only Iphone 3G has it.

Maybe satguide will make the GPS Application for the Iphone in India after Airtel and Vodafone launch the Iphone 3G in September. The Iphone 3G offers so many features, it deserves a good GPS application for use in India.

Also Wisetechie, will the Airtel/Vodafone Iphone 3G support EDGE in India ?

Actually we have just struck a deal with Satguide for reviewing their software , be on the lookout for Satguide satellite navigation review, i dont think they have an Iphone application yet though.

Yeah i agree with Utkarsh, but the fact is that GPS in India never really took off, MapmyIndia and Satguide are still young players in the market. Will they be making an app for the Iphone ?
