Here are also some photos showing proof of the Iphone working on Airtel, the photos have been taken by Mac Kalvin. All these things are being posted here with permission from him.

How to unlock the iPhone using the anySIM program (New !!!)

Also do not buy the iPhone from Indiatimes or other such shops, they are selling it for 45000 rupees, you can get an iPhone for Rs.16000 only and you can unlock it yourself for free.

1. I cannot get I tunes to startup when i connect Iphone without the SIM.
2. When i have the Sim Connected to the Iphone and then try connecting to the PC.. it goes to the Iphone registration Page.
3. you’ve mentioned that, you can copy the current settings using Itunes. It that done using the File –> export library option or is it any different.
4. Currently the Jailbrake application and Iphone interface is not downloadable..

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. The unlock patch is available online free of cost. It’s got a GUI and works fine so no need to read any PDFs.
If you ask me, I’d wait for iPhone’s release in India. Visual Voicemail sounds really cool and it’s a service I’m willing to pay for. About the hue and cry over 3G, India doesn’t even have it yet.
Aditya, I would like to remind you that the iPhone works on any GSM network. Look at the tech specifications. It wont work with the WLL/CDMA services like Reliance and Indicom without conversion adapters on the phone.

@Abhishek : the PDF is a guide to unlocking, i suggest you read it to see that it aint as simple as patching the phone. There is more than 1 step to it, and all of us arent techies.
@Aparijit : Indiatimes is selling it at 2.5 times the price , i.e. 36k , why would you like to spend 2.5 times the price. In your case i would recommend waiting till early 2008 unless you got really fat pockets.

thanks Wise, to people know that File is not just PDF, yes Abhishek is right GUI are on internet to patch it iPhone, but Abhi, we r telling in guide how u install GUI on phone and where u get right GUI. and only installing GUI will not work, u need to do lot before that, and all GUI not work with every phone as well that why we r keep updating out PDF guide too, today I’m giving new one more version, where we have 2 GUI application to unlock i Phone, we r also making keep changes in PDF guide so that user will get easily unlock we r just helping not doing any business here.

hi there,
i have an unlocked iphone and its working super. the only thing is i cant get the edge on airtel to work on it. i can c the edge sign on the iphone next to where it says airtel and have entered airtelgprs.com in the edge settings on the iphone as well. i keep getting the error saying u r not subscribed to edge or something. now i am sure my gprs is activated as when i put the same sim in my nokia 8600 it workd just fine…..i really would appreciate if u could let me know what am i doing wrong…..thanks mate….ratik

@ Rohan you can buy it in India also but you’ll be paying almost double the price.
Price in USA $399(approx Rs 16,000), while price in India right now is anywhere between Rs 30,000 – 40,000.

SMS from IDEA (Billing Alerts,etc.,) are coming thru as gibberish(special characters). SMS from other carriers and Yahoo SMS service are coming thru fine.

Use iBricker to navigate the file “/var/root/Library/SMS/sms.db” and
delete it!
The phone would create this file again. Just re-boot and send yourself
an SMS from another phone. This file is the database file of ALL your
SMSes. THIS WIPES ALL SMSes FROM THE PHONE. This is easier than
solution 2.
SOLUTION 2:
===========================================
Using iBricker download this same file as in Solution 1: “/var/root/
Library/SMS/sms.db”
This is the SMS Database and is SQLite compatible. You can download
SQLite from http://www.sqlite.org/download.html (First link under Pre-
Compiled Binaries for Windows)

using the sqlite. Put the Sqlite.exe and sms.db in the same folder and
then open the command prompt and go to the folder. (Lets say both are

@ Anmol, unless you have a friend/relative who can get it for you from the US, it is highly unlikely you’ll find the iphone for that price anywhere in India.
In gaffar market the current asking price for iphone is anywhere between Rs25,000 – Rs30,000

Apart from the iTunes store, the 1.1.1 also fixes the low speaker/earpiece volume issue some people were having. Even though I did not have any problem with my volume earlier, after the update I feel the earpiece volume has definitely gone up, earlier I had the volume set to max now I actually had to turn it down a bit.
Other features added are the home button setting- you now have a choice to set double clicking options for the home button, you can also set it to show the ipod controls while the ipod is playing.
Also included are new settings for the ipod, you now have an option to set ipod to resume video playback from where you left off last.The option for tv out is also included.
You can turn now turn off edge while on roaming. Safari seems to be more stable, hasn’t crashed since I updated while in 1.0.2 it would usually crash after 5-10 mins of use

Thanks Js29! But I think I’ll hold off from upgrading to 1.1.1 atleast till a free hack comes out. Kinda skeptical to upgrade and then unlock all over again coz the first time I did, I had to restore my phone 5 – 6 times to successfully get all features working. Too lazy to do it all over again

You can downgrade your phone back to 1.0.2 there are a lot of guides out there explaining how to do that, just search for “downgrade baseband” on google.
Just make sure you don’t make the mistake of updating again also turn off automatic updating in iTunes
Please do not attempt the downgrade if you are not comfortable with hacking your phone on your own…you could end up doing permanent damage to your phone.
For all mac owners, there is a new version of iNdependence which will guide you through the process of downgrading back to 1.0.2 and then again updating to 1.1.1 and jailbreaking/activating it. Still no sign of the much awaited dev team unlock though. So after activating you still can’t use the phone functionality unless you use IPSF(paid software) to unlock.

Yeah I used IPSF, though not a free solution($50-$60 depending on where you get it from) I’d recommend it over Anysim(free) as to me it seems that Ipsf have a cleaner code and it’s a totally hassle free way to unlock, once you unlock in 1.0.2 the unlock will not be destroyed even when you update to 1.1.1 all you need to do is jailbreak and activate.
Also the fact that the dev team forum claims to have an unlock but it says “1.1.1 unlocked with 1.0.2 baseband” that’s not exactly a solution I would want.

All people who are thinking of buying iPhone in India should hold off as bank SMS like ICICI and sms from airtel, etc. are not recieved in iPhone!
For eg. the monthly salary credits SMS alerts that one recieves on their mobile phones will NOT be recieved on iPhone as apparently iPhone is not able to decipher SMS from alphanumeric senders.
Most of Bank SMSs are sent from sent from alphanumeric message servers.
Unless you are OK with not recieving your Bank SMSs go ahead.
If I had known this was the case would not have bought iPhone.

50 min total since i messed in between. Awesome upgrade guys. the speaker phone is much better , much louder and clearer. Cant belive how a sotware can make hardware come out better

Its have only one Speaker inside , iPhone down 1 point of Speaker and 1 for Mic, both points are not Speakers, Please read carefull user mannul and get info about iPhone then write here to everybody, right now im using my 2nd iPhone and touch wood, i don’t have any issue in it, im most happiest iPhone user.
Belive me iPhone is not a normal phone, its a more than pHone, its a small Laptop and much much better than any other phone in world, Yes i admit, nothing is 100% in this world like u and me, so iPhone is not GOD.

My iPhone is arriving in a couple of days (hopefully), and just when i thought that i had the whole process of unlocking covered, my friends are scaring me saying that this unlock works only if the phone has been activated..
In other words, they claim that if the phone is in mint condition with a 1.1.1 firmware, there’s nothing i can do about it in India. Is this true?

You can surf iphone’s internet from your laptop. You need to install a proxy server eg) tinyproxy from the installer.app on ure iphone and set ure iphone ip as say 192.168.1.1 and ure laptops as 192.168.1.2 and set the proxy on ure laptop as 192.168.1.1 at port 8080. This basically means that ure iPhone now has become a wire-less access point and ure using ure laptop’s wifi to connect to iphone to surf the net.

which GPRS have u enabled? Airtel Online or Mobile Office? Also if you have enabled, u shud see an E symbol next to “Airtel” symbol on ure iPhone. If “E” symbol shows up means GPRS exists but for the APN airtelgprs.com, you need to have mobile office enabled. Do check this out.
If anyone wants to upgrade an anysim 1.0.2 unlocked one to 1.1.1, the virginizer app from the iphone elite team is out and works great! Once virginized, use any of the guides for jailbreaking,unlocking and activating 1.1.1,

Which plan have you got for GPRS?? Airtel has two plans one for 99/Month which is also known as airtel Live, with this plan you can only access the airtel live portal and no other websites. The other plan is for 449/Month also known as Mobile office which will give you unlimited internet access.
Please make sure you have the 449/month plan if you wish to have edge access on your iPhone.

@ali hold the home button and stand by button ( on the top of the fone) for 5 seconds and your phone should switch off. font hold it too long or your might just get a syellow triangle which says connect to itunes. then you will have to unlock it again.
hold it only for 5 seconds maximum.!

Follow this
Goto Settings >> General>>Network>>Edge>>Clear the Default settings (Cingular /AT &T)>>Click APN>> Enter WWW >> Username/ Password Should be empty.
After this Restart ur Iphone Enjoy Edge over ur iphone

Transfering sim contacts is a bit of a hassle. But Easier if u were using any PDA Windows Mobile based phone earlier which has a capability of sncying option with Outlook.
1. Goto Outlook Configure any of ur email setting there ( Best Gmail)
2. Sync ur PDA Windows Mobile based phone (Make sure its same phone with ur contacts)
3. Outllook will automatically sync ur Phone Contacts
4. Download Itunes.( Will ask to chose mail client) Select Outlook
5. And last option is to press sync button at the bottom.
6. All contacts will be saved on ur iphone,
Music Can also be saved on the iphone with similar way.
1.Open Itunes
2. Select Music (Right side column)
3.If u have songs on pc goto Itunes >> File >> Add file / Folder to Library
4. U will now see a list of all the songs displayed on itunes.
5.IMP step Connect ur Iphone It will show Iphone link Click it
6. Goto Music Tap this tap on ur Iphone link and press sync
7. It will copy all the music u have selected earlier.

Try any of the numerous video converters frm download.com for converting videos for ipod. It would work with iPhone. Or use the Recode that comes along with Nero 7. Which is also good enough.

Similar to some of the queries above, I unlocked my 1.1.1 iphone and have Vodafone as my carrier. I entered the APn setting as www and have activiated the GPRS service with Vodaphone. I have the E icon coming on as well. Despite all this — when i click on Safari and Utube it says -”Could not activate EDGE. You are not subscribed to EDGE”.

to answer your questions
1.Yes you can buy from the apple store either online or in store, you do not need to activate it instore you just pay for the phone take it home. Pls note when you connect your phone to itunes it will ask you to activate…DO NOT do so!! disconnect from itunes search for the best method to unlock follow instructions.
2. in order to unlock it does not matter if you are in US or in India.
Pls note in the new firmware apple have added an additional country check so if you try and use your phone outside of the official iphone supported countries you’ll need to modify some additional files.

You do not need to get the AT&T contract when buying the iPhone. when walking out of the apple store you only pay for the phone and choose the option to activate it at home over iTunes(which you don’t have to if you don’t want to!!)
Another thing the fee for cancelling your AT&T contract is about $75-$150 and not $400!!
Unlocking you iPhone is FREE unless you are too chicken to try it on your own.
If and when the iPhone is introduced in India it will cost about Rs 25,000 as against $400 or Rs 15,800 at current exchange rates!!

Hey i heard that the French iphone are not locked….. as the government has come out with a law that you cant sell iphone locked to a service provider.
That means its a genuine open iphone, that makes me assume that you ca put any sim card in it and it should work fine.
That also makes me assume that you can very easily update to the latest software without getting scared to get unlocked or bricked again…
I have got this confirmed in Mumbai. Its available for 24,000 rs.
I suggest that everyone should try and get a Iphone from FRANCE……

I have a vista bearing Itunes 7.3 which when connected to my iphone gives me a compatibility error and is asking me to upgrade my itunes version to 7.4 or greater. I did download the 7.5 version now..but i wanna check if connecting the iphone to the latest itunes 7.5 version will not cause my phone to lock…my iphone is v 1.1.1..thanks!!

Your unlock will not be affected if you upgrade to iTunes 7.5 but please remember not to upgrade your iPhone to new 1.1.2 firmware! Set your itunes so that it does not automatically check for updates.
As of now the method to unlock 1.1.2 is very complicated and risky so take caution

If the phone you have came with 1.1.2 version already loaded, it probably has a new bootloader which is not unlockable right now.
all you can do for now is to wait for the new unlock which could take anywhere between a day to a month!!

Do you know the version of frimware on the phone? Is it a brand new phone or are you getting it from a local ‘reseller’? The phones software/OS has nothing to do with the unlock procedure, the problem is that with every firmware update apple keeps making changing to the baseband(modem) of the phone this prevents easy hacking/unlocking.
Apple is now selling all phones with new firmware version 1.1.2(and also a new bootloader) this has not been unlocked till now, so if you plan on purchasing in an iPhone in the near future you are out of luck.
If on the other hand you are getting a phone which has firmware 1.0.2 or 1.1.1 on it you can be rest assured these will have full functionality once unlocked.
As for airtel GPRS pls make sure you have subscribed for the 499/month Mobile office plan and not airtel live which is 99/month

If your phone is an out of the box 1.1.2 there is no way to unlock it.
The problem here is that Apple have not only updated the firmware of the phone but also the bootloader, so all new phones coming out of apple store(week 45 and beyond) now have the new bootloader.
The new bootloader version(4.6) patches up the vulnerabilities on previous version(3.9) and prevents the hacks which were previously being used to unlock the phone so basically till someone figures out a way to bypass this you can only use your phone as an itouch!

yes the phone which is available is 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 i am being charged a difference of Rs.500 between the above two. I already have a mobile office active on my sony erriccson with Airtel postpaid.

you must understand that in order to start using an iphone you need to have itunes installed, you’ll need itunes to transfer your songs and videos as well as to sync your contacts, calendar etc. Itunes is needed to update your firmware or to restore your phone if needed to a factory like state. you can easily turn off the automatic updates in itunes if you so wish. there is no way in which the phone can be updated without your consent/knowledge so no need to worry
Just make sure you turn off automatic updates in itunes and you’re set.

Phew! After a nailbiting 2 hours, I virginized from 1.0.2, upgraded and unlocked 1.1.2 firmware on my iphone by following the modmyifone guide. It worked 100% for me. 1.1.2 is much smoother to operate! sms from my bank finally comes! Also, the iphone processor has been overclocked with this update. So its faster

Anyone else upgrade to 1.1.2 firmware? I upgraded and have found the new firmware comes with some much needed fixes.
The SMS problem is now solved so you will no longer get garbled web/bank messages
Voicemail notification now works
Louder speaker volume, significantly louder than 1.1.1 and now I don’t hear any hisses or crackles even at full volume
International support now included also has region format for India, number formatting fixed.
The Caller ID works without mentioning the country code before the number in the Address Book.

For those looking to upgrade to 1.1.2 I suggest you hold off for now as the unlock procedure right now is quite complicated and risky.

All you need to do is install oktoprep on your 1.1.1 IPSF unlocked phone then press the upgrade button in itunes

Hey guys. I am planning to get an iPhone this december from the US, and ive been going over a lot of blogs and this seemed to be the best one for a potential iphone customer in india.
My concerns are about unlocking the iPhone. From what Ive seen, the new iPhone comes with a firmware version 1.1.2, and the pdf available in this site is for an earlier version. Hey Guys I managed to fix my phonebook/callerid problem where sometimes even if a number is stored in your phone it doesnt show the callers name. Followed the guide at Hackint0sh and so far so good
Also installed a neat little app which shows the region and carrier for every number not stored in your phone.

A brand new out of the box iphone with 1.1.2 firmware on it can not be unlocked as yet.
The link you have posted is for upgrading older phones with 1.0.4 or 1.1.1 firmware on them to 1.1.2

I am getting the same problem as Ratik. I had GPRS enabled on my Hutch Sim and when I popped it in the Iphone, I got the error:
“You are not subscribed to EDGE”. I entered www in the APN field (Username & Password blank). Tried this with Airtel (APN = airtelgprs.com) and similar error.

@PS : You have to set the Type under GetInfo as Movie or TV Show.. and put in a proper name… else it will take it as Music Video..and thats when only the Audio plays… I know its kinda gay for only audio to play even if its kept under Music Video type..!!

I’ve been using Xilisoft and haven’t had any problems so far, just choose the profile for iphone and it should all work nicely.

Yeh check the codec you use to convert into MP4 files.. make sure you arent using MP4 Audio only option or some option that says Disable video. I hav been using 3GP video convertor and works fine.
I have had your problem… but the reason to that was coz I havent set the properties of the video file in iTunes.

The videos have to be formatted to iphone video settings.
Just by having a mp4 files doesnt really mean it will play on the iphone.
Try using a converting software like xilisoft iphone video convertor.
i use that and it works fine.

Yeh my iPhone heats up sort of… and also I think only one side of my speakerphone works in the phone… like if you cover up the bottom left side of the phone… (you would expect there would be another speaker on the bottom right side).. but u can bearly hear any sound…

First of all check the firmware version on your phone! If it’s 1.1.2 then there is no way to unlock it as yet. If it’s 1.1.1 on the other hand all you need to do is google

Also i reliased an amazing thing yesterday.
My iphone v1.1 was acting funny so i decided to RESTORE it.
Normal method of holding the HOME + Power button for 25 secs you get the connect to itunes logo on our iphone.
When u connect to itunes it says iphone found in restore mode pls pdate the software.
Choose manual restore and load firmware 1.1 ..
I assumed after the ormal activate process i will have to UNLOCK the fone again, BUT NO… after the activation/jailbreakme.com i didnt have to unlock it.
It was already unlocked….
So anyone who is scared of restoring your iphone its not that much of a pain/scare.
But its highly NOT RECOMMENDED until you know exactly how to do it.
Also new update SMS’D Application has come out with an updated version.

I made a typo mistake in my earlier post sorry about that, yes it is true you do not need to activate with AT&T.
If you go back a few comments you’ll find that I have said many times that it is not possible to unlock a new 1.1.2 phone, so there is no question of a simple and easy solution.
At best you can activate your phone using the various methods found(for free) on the hackint0sh forums. After this you’ll be able to use your phone as an itouch and all functions will be available except for the phone part.
The only way of unlocking a new 1.1.2 iphone right now is to use a “turbo sim”, again I suggest going to Hackint0sh to find more info.

Regarding ebay and 1.1.2 unlocks, most of them are scams so watch out.
There is no software method to unlock 1.1.2 till now, if someone claims otherwise do not believe them, crosscheck here if need be or go to hackint0sh and confirm!! The only hardware method you should look out for is the “Turbosim” as mentioned eralier you can find all the info on this at the hackint0sh forums. Any other hardware unlock could seriously damage your phone.

Check the firmware version!! If it’s 1.1.2 you(or anyone else) cannot unlock it.
If it’s 1.1.1 or earlier unlocking is very easy now, just a matter of following some simple instructions.

Have a few concerns about the iphone that i hv got… its a version 1.1.1 and it wrks gr8. However i am having a few issues.
1. bluetooth connectivity. It does not detect anyother phone that has a bluetooth connection even if i pair it. Could you let me know how to fix it?
2. What sofware do i use to access the library files e.g. /System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBookUI.framework/ABPhoneFormats.plist

So you do NOT neet to activate Mobile office which is like rs. 499 per month, you can visit the normal sites with airtel live only. Also in my state that is Rajasthan Airtel Live is free, i. e. no rs. 99 per month,

Hi v4uall,
Here are my suggestions that you should try out
1. Iphone’s bluetooth at present only allows headsets to connect, you cannot connect phones or computers to it.
2. From your Installer app you should install openssh on your iphone and on your pc you should download WINScp ssh client, with this you can access iphone’s filesystem.
3. I believe that happened because the wifi in the mall was not free to all, generally this happens in wiifs in hotels also, once you buy there prepaid internet cards and put in the codes, they grant you access and then you can browse. This is just my guess, there could be other reasons too.
4. As soon as wifi is activated on Iphone, edge automatically gets deactivated till wifi is active, and I think you should use wifi only to install and unistall software as edge is real slow.
5.That is again because you are not able to go to internet on your iphone, something is preventing access to the net, either you have a proxy that you should configure or some security settings that you should put in.

This is my experience with an unlocked iphone (1.1.1) and Airtel:
I bought an Airtel pre-paid SIMM from Calcutta when I arrived from Canada and got an extra 333 re-chanrge. I asked them to activate the GPRS but they did not know how to…(small roadside shop)
I phoned 121 (customer care) and asked them to activate it (GPRS)
They told me to get a recharge of Rs. 498 and then it would work.
WHat I didn’t know was that it had to be exaty Rs. 498 NOT 500, or 900 which I had as a balance after recharging. I called customer care to enable the GPRS which is referred to ( Mobile Office ) . They continued to ask me to recharge until I talked with a technical manager in Jaipur in an AIrtel shop and he mentioned that it had to be exactly Rs. 498 to activate automatically.
I also asked him why my phone was not working and my SMS was coming in all scrambled. He led me to the iphone settings and told me to turn on or off the caller ID. (Can’t remember now) IF YOUR PHONE DOESN’T MAKE CALLS BUT RECIEVES THEM THIS IS THE SOLUTION! Anyways, the experience was less then enjoyable until it started working. Now I am a Happy customer….

3) v1.1.2 is yet to be hacked, it will happen only after the release of v1.1.3 which is expected any time. Till then keep your fingers crossed..
4) There’s no harm in unlocking the iPhone, provided you follow expert guidance.

I have been following this website for developments on iphone and got swayed to buy 2 of them ordered around the new year. Assume they would be on the new firmwire and the boot (something..!!). So long i can use it for music and videos without the phone features i think it will be good enuf to acquaint myself with the device. Thanks to this discussion forum and replies, I have been able to sort out my GPRS, SMS and Call problems. Hence instead of finding out the names again from such a long blog, i thot of thanking all. I can say that most of us would agree that this forum is valuable to many of us iPhone users. iPhone, no doubt is a good product….but from my 3 months of usage in Delhi(Airtel), I can say that its prone to bugs and many features r missing….still i love my iPhone and am enjoying it….though I have been hit by all kinds of bugs!!!! Everyone here who has version 1.1.2 OUT OF THE BOX – BRAND NEW.
There is no software unlock.
I have read all over the internet . The only method to do it is some software hacks and then you need to cut your simcard diagonal and use turbo sim or something to unlock it.
Its insane as the iphone with version 1.1.2 are selling for 32k in bombay now.

No. you cannot pick and choose the firmware version when buying from Apple.
Chances are if you even hint that you specifically want a 1.1.1 phone, they will refuse to sell to you altogether(I know atleast 3-4 people with whom this has happened!)

I suggest you hold off upgrading for a few days, 1.1.3 has already been jailbroken and an unlock should follow soon

basic vodafone gprs doesn’t work wid iphn…
u need to subscribe to EDGE….for prepaid connection there are 3 options…
i’ve the basic one that is rs 199 (fixed charges every month) + 5p/10kb (download & upload)…
vodafone EDGE speed is preety gud as i’ve used it wid my iphn….youtube on iphn is better than on comp…

I hope you do realize the method posted above by Mac is now outdated!
The newest version of the iphone firmware is now 1.1.3 and so far it is not unlockable(for new OTB phones) Even if you are lucky and get a 1.1.2 firmware phone, please keep in mind that so far the only way possible to unlock these phones is to open the phone and flash the firmware(hardware method) there is no software only method for the new iphones.. You could alternatively use the various sim spoofing methods available but these too will not work for the 1.1.3 firmware!!
As for buying the phone from apple, you do not need to buy it with contract just get the phone only ooh and don’t tell apple you intend to use it in India

Also when did u get your iphone? if u bought it from US in the last 1 month and its probably 1.1.3 and ur stuck to do nothing with is unless u use turbo sim to unlock it. Again Google about it , everything is out there….
If you are unsure, here is how to check: On the emergency dial screen dial *3001#12345#* and tap Versions. Firware version should be 04.01.13_G. If it’s 03.14.08_G you have v1.0.2

I am not able to use EDGE on airtel. I have the E icon coming on as well. Despite all this — when i click on Safari and Utube it says -”Could not activate EDGE. You are not subscribed to EDGE”.

It is now POSSIBLE to Unlock OTB 1.1.2 / 1.1.3 iPhones. Geohat has done the ‘impossible’!
Here is a simple tutorial I found:-
Download these:
gunlock and the secpack from http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/ or the blog
the 4.02.13 fls from http://george.zjlotto.com/index.php/baseband/
2. Downgrade your phone to 1.0.2.
irrespective of wher u are 1.1.1/1.1.2 otb not otb
press and hold power and home button untill u see the screen go blank , leave the power button as soon as the screen turns black, (set up the speaker volume on ur pc to high) as soon as the screen goes black u’l hear a sound, now after abt 10 secs holding down the home button u’ll hear another sound , now in itunes it will say phone in recovery mode and all, in itunes, hold the shift key (alt key in mac) and downgrade sequentially to 1.1.1 if you were in 1.1.2 or from 1.1.1 to 1.02 (some will say go directly to 1.02 I prefer this) once ur on 1.02
jailbreak and activate it , use ibrickr or watever u like.
install installer.app through ibrickr or watever, update it, install
community sources,bsd subsystems,open ssh, mobile terminal, etc etc
now use win scp/ibrickr and upload all files to usr/bin
files are gunlock/secpack/fls file for 1.1.2/gunlock.c
use putty or mobile terminal to execute the following commands
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls”
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
5. Enjoy your 1.1.2 OTB unlocked iPhone

Anybody looking to unlock your iphone(any version) just search for ZiPhone on google
It’s a fantastic little tool for unlocking/activating and jailbreaking fimware 1.1.3
If you have a 3.9 bootloader(updated or restored to 1.1.3) run ziphone -a-j in cmd this will activate and jailbreak your phone you can then install anysim 1.1.3 to unlock
If you have a 4.6 bl phone run ziphone -a-j-u this will activate, jailbreak and unlock your phone in 3 minutes flat

@PRASTE Zibri’s Ziphone suxxx……a lot of issues when unlocked with ziphone….without notification ….it downgrades ur bootloader also which is really not a good idea….and bootloader downgrade does involve risk……my advice would be not using ziphone and use iPlus…..its much better

Due.. I am very happy with Ziphone… no issues at all.. I even upgraded from 1.1.3 to 1.1.4 with any issues.. only flip side with ziphone is that the locate me function does not work on the gmaps.. I think I’ll give it 100*’s
The solution for my problem was to just unplug my iphone and replug it back for Itunes to identify it!

After reading loads of forums and blogs about all the pros and cons regarding ziphone and watching COUNTLESS YouTube videos…There are some people that are experience NO problems at all, however it seems that there is a a lot MORE people who are experiencing issues (such as mail not working, Youtube not working, some reporting their phones stuck in Vibrate with no sound, no service etc).
iPlus downgrads the bootloader, unlock, jailbreak and activate the iPhone. And even better, it will also install the most important and common packages as well as several fixes with a custom payload for installing other packages.
Bootloader downgrading uses BL 3.9FakeBlank, so it is fully reversible.
as for 1.1.2 and 1.1.3…..geohots unlock is much much better than ziphone… more stable and better success rate….

@vidya if your on version 1.1.1 for some reason v1.1.1 firmware will not save the settings after reboot. You have to fix it by adding a source in the Installer.app: http://i.unlock.no/ and install the edge fix patch from unlocking tools in ur installer…or better option would be upgrading to a higher version

Well though u may be correct that iPlus would be a good solution that ZiPhone but
It really did something erratic for me ….initially i got a phone 1.1.3 then i updated it to 1.1.4 by normal method.Then i used iPlus the latest one which claims that it even unlocks 1.1.4 without any issues the ver 2.0 i guess. That software messed up my iPhone to such an extent that even if i restarted the screen used to show me “U need to carry out repairs to ur iPhone please contact apple to do so.” the phone was not even recognized by iTunes the latest version.Itunes showed an error that firmware corrupt please contact Apple.It sayed iTunes cannot recover this phone.
I then realised that i had actually managed to mess up with my 17k phone.
Anyways then i got to ZiPhone2.5c it did all for me.It initially got my iPhone to recovery console then it did all unlocking and stuff like that……
Now the phone is working with all features …thought on 3.9BL but it does not make any difference for me …..as far as i Tunes recognizes it ….i will have a chance to upgrade to as firmware that apple is about to launch.
But definitely next time i will try to unlock it after any upgrades with iPlus.Hope so will have better luck next time.Or if not then ZiPhone will always be there .The creator rocks.

Well actually i feel that that Edge icon being there on the top must be eating my iPhones battery power.See as far as i have tested till today …if i recharge completely in one night the phone works superb for the rest 2 days with the battery draining a bit to low.
I would feel very happy if i could get that switched off so that i may get it for 3 days ….
I have turned SSH and other stuff off but only this EDGE keeps popping up.
Dont know what to do with it.in Boss Tools it shows switched off but the Services.app shows its on.

Well ur running a very old firmware it seems ….now the latest going firmware is 1.1.4.
If u can get to 1.1.4 the iPhone can be unlocked by ZiPhone and then u can install an app named SMSD its an amazing app just install it …and then u can forward sms and also to multiple recipients.
Get to 1.1.4 first.There are lot of tutorials on how to get to 1.1.4 on iClarified.com website ..or even if u google u will get lots of help…
Or else let us all know incase u got any problems.

I have been following this thread for the last one month and it is very informative….I have been using windows based mobile phones since the last 5 years, but I took the initiative of asking my friend to buy me a 8gig iphone ver 1.1.4 from apple store in the usa…it costed $431 incl taxes… Got the iphone in my hands about 10 days ago, i unlocked it (in five minutes) using the ziphone 2.5 and it has been working like a charm. I live in ahmedabad/gujarat and am able to use all the features including “locate me” , maps, stocks, youtube, sms, edge/gprs etc etc…
I must say that apple has revolutionised the way mobiles are used…I am very very happy with the iphone. So I feel anyone else can also do the same without getting paranoid about unlocking issues etc etc

Well actually the Ziphones tool is based on the Dot net Framework.
Hence even if i send it to u …u will have to install the framework on to ur machine to get it working …..
go to this site there is a download link at the bottom …for framework 3.5 i guess the latest one …i assume u got windows XP SP2……just download it and install the framework …and then use ZiPhone the ur just 1 click away…..

Hi,Nothing to worry mate.Just change your gprs plan to ‘mobile connect’ in vodafone.Make sure u’ve Rs199/- balance in ur prepaid account while activating. Thats it.Then u would be able to browse from ur iphone.

Well congrats on unlocking.
With outlook u simply need to do it a bit different i also had encountered the same problem.
Solution: Install Outlook 2003 and do not configure it for any email or no other accounts. Just close the wizard by saying that u dont want to manage the accounts.Then in the iTunes let it detect ur iPhone and when the screen comes up for ur iPhone Go Edit -> Preferences and then Sync Tab. There is something named Reset……. After pressing this all the data on the itunes will be reset and u will have a clean iTunes without any of the songs on it shown ….it will not delete anything form ur HDD. After this reset when u next time plug in the iphone and then simply choose sync my contacts with Outlook and then sync it u will be offered an option for Merge Info and i guess the other option is Replace Info. Choose Merge Info and then sync.
NOw all ur contacts will be backed up to Outlook 2003.
Regarding BSNL i dont know.
I hope that serves ur purpose but at the cost of the songs that u must have synced earlier.

Well actually bluetooth on iPhone is not like normal bluetooth.It can only be used with the Bluetooth Headset that u will need to buy compatible with the iPhone.It can also be connected with the car bluetooth set.
This bluetooth cannot be used for transfering files till date but soon we will have some apps which will help us all in using it as normal bluetooth.
Also SMS app that is default in the iPhone does not support forwarding options…..U need to override the existing SMS app with another app named SMSD for that purpose…..
SO get SMSD installed on ur phone then SSH or say Putty ur iPhone from ur comp and then u will be able to set the permissions for the new SMSD app to run as default.
THis SMSD app is really superb.
U can also set permission using the Terminal available on iPhone just login using alpine as password and then launch the app from the terminal so that it will have root privileges and u will be allowed to set the permissions.
If u want any other details do let me know….or else google will serve the purpose for u.Feel free to ask.

Once I configure the mail account ( it’s yahoo ac for me) and then while keeping the Outlook open I launched the iTune and tried to Sync the contact. Boom….it’s working now perfectly. Thanks

Hi Mac, Thanks a lot for your help, never can be an easier way to unlock iPhone. Its so COOL but still im havin prob with the bluetooth and WiFi. bluetooth never detects, it only keeps searching and when i connect to wifi and try to open a page from safari it says EDGE service not available. Also u need to get say a terminal installed on ur iPhone .
Well as u said u have downloaded it to ur machine then u will need WinScp in case of windows.Get it and then connect it using the IP address of ur iPhone and the username : root and password : alpine.
Once connected u will need to copy the extracted SMSD.app folder to the /Applications folder where u will find all the other apps.
Note : Do not replace any other MobileSMS app.
Simply place this app folder in there.
Then u wil need to select this folder and go for properties by right clicking on that folder and change the access rights to 0755 and apply it to every file present in the SMSD app folder.
Once done with this u will need to launch the app on the iPhone but not from the iPhone.Simply type
# /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD
in the terminal app that u must have installed on ur iPhone or on putty if u intend to use PUTTY.
Once the app launches on ur iPhone then navigate to More->Preferences and change them as per the site that i mentioned above.
All this is mostly from that site.That site is of the creator of SMSD app.
Once u set those all this then simply restart ur iPhone and then go on enjoy.
Its likely that ur original app will not work ….but this app is far more interesting than that original app.
Let me know incase u got any other issues.

Well if u must have dropped any time the precious piece then may be hardware damage or else try receiving a call and then try to increase the volume using the volume controls on the iphone.
It must be the case that the volume must have gone a lot lower……
Hey also well it is a bit silly but incase if u have still the screen schield on ur screen …that thin plastic film on it.Then u will have to either remove it completely or may be u can simply cut a small part of that film just above the speaker for the i mean let the sound get out of that closed film.
I guess that is the problem in ur case.Let me know if it gets solved.

Well i hope u got a wi-fi connection running at ur place …..cos unless u have a wi-fi connection u will not get an ip assigned to ur iPhone.
And if there is no wireless connection at ur place then u will not be able to SSH into the iPhone.
Step 1: Get wireless connection at ur home.
Step 2: Install OpenSSH on ur iPhone from the Installer.
Step 3 :Get Winscp and Putty downloaded on ur machine.
Step 4: Check the Settings -> Wi-Fi Tab on ur iPhone so that u will find an ip address assigned to ur iphone.Or else u can even install BossPrefs Installed on ur iPhone from the Installer it will also show u the ip address.
I hope this all will serve ur purpose.

Well its good u got it installed……
Now go into winscp and goto applications then search for the SMSD folder that u must have placed there …..and then simply right click and enter properties and in that make the rights to 0755.
Option 1
isconnect it and then install a terminal say Term vt100 (i use this terminal) u can go for other terminals as well.Simply login to ur iPhone from the iPhone using this tool the default pass is alpine for root as the user.
Option 2 : Get putty on ur machine and login to ur iphone using the putty tool.
Once u have logged in then simply type
# /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD
this will launch the app on ur iPhone then u need to go to more options on the left top of the screen and choose from the options.
Done reboot the iPhone and i gues all will be done.

Ok thats better now as i hear.
Now get the firmware for 1.1.4 downloaded from the net store the file on ur machine or u can simply use iTunes to do it for u.
Proc 1: Using iTunes:
Attach ur iphone all iTunes to detect it and then in the itunes go for the iPhone Tab and then choose Check for updates for ur iPhone .
Then it will connect to the net and check for the firmware 1.1.4 i hope so ……but choose to upgrade only if its 1.1.4 cos any other updates are i guess not supported by ZiPhones tool.Then simply allow iTunes to download and upgrade ur iPhone to 1.1.4.
Proc 2: Using direct downloads:
In this case u will have to manually download the 1.1.4 firmware and then make the iPhone to enter the restore mode by pressing the Power Button and then when the iPhone start release the Power button and then keep pressed the Home Button so that the iPhone is detected in the restore mode by iTunes then supply the file u donwloaded when asked for the firmware file.
I hope this will do the favour for ur iPhone.
After upgradation the iPhone will again be locked then u make have the previledge to use the ZiPhone’s tool.

Hoooohoooooo. I had real roller coaster ride in upgrading my phone to 1.1.4. And its all bcos i was messing up. And real thanks to Ziphone which was getting it back when ever i was screwing it up. Shri, i am facing few problems after upgrading. Im not able to access any sites thru safari.. IT says edge not active. SMS not able to forward.. How should I sync with my details thru itunes?? Well what kind of problems are those ….see incase of Safari well i have never used edge for it ….i use the wi-fi connection at my place for browsing …it works simply great.For edge to be used u will have to consult ur service provider and get gprs activated on ur sim card.
And SMS not able to forward : I guess please refer to my posts addressed to Gaurav in this blog.They will guide u in installing SMSD app which will do the forwards for u.Successfully.

I could get edge activated on my mobile. Its fine now. I have downloaded SMSD pack, but when im pressing it its going to Main home. This probelm i faced earlier initially when i upgraded to 1.1.2 as mentioned above. same is repeating with SMSD. And one more thing, what softwares you suggest me to download for better feature usage of the Phone? There are plenty of them, need to know which is genuine and good. Pls help.

Well. sorry to tell you this,but that Winscp din’t work for me..It never got connected to my iphone..Always says ““connection timed out”
I have 2.3b SMSD installed on my iphone thru installler.
Now in order to make it a default app is there any way to get it done without using winscp?
Also i could use smsd only once , the next time i received the sms and i tried opening SMSD, it took me to the main menu(springboard).
nothing much to do i guess.

Also u need to get say a terminal installed on ur iPhone .
Well as u said u have downloaded it to ur machine then u will need WinScp in case of windows.Get it and then connect it using the IP address of ur iPhone and the username : root and password : alpine.
Once connected u will need to copy the extracted SMSD.app folder to the /Applications folder where u will find all the other apps.
Note : Do not replace any other MobileSMS app.
Simply place this app folder in there.
Then u wil need to select this folder and go for properties by right clicking on that folder and change the access rights to 0755 and apply it to every file present in the SMSD app folder.
Once done with this u will need to launch the app on the iPhone but not from the iPhone.Simply type
# /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD
in the terminal app that u must have installed on ur iPhone or on putty if u intend to use PUTTY.
Once the app launches on ur iPhone then navigate to More->Preferences and change them as per the site that i mentioned above.
All this is mostly from that site.That site is of the creator of SMSD app.
Once u set those all this then simply restart ur iPhone and then go on enjoy.
Its likely that ur original app will not work ….but this app is far more interesting than that original app.”"”"”

Hey guys stop messing up with my name …..i would feel happy if it would remain Shriniket.
Well anyways process for getting Winscp:
1.Get ur iPhone connected to a Wifi device …..or on a wireless network.
Then check the ip address in the BossPreps app or in the Settings Wi-Fi section.
Then Open WinScp on ur computer …..ensure that ur machine is also on that same wireless network on which ur iPhone is connected.
U can simply ping to the ip address of ur iPhone and check if the connectivity exists.
2.Now after launching the WinScp enter the Host as the IP address of ur iPhone and then the username as : root and the password as : alpine
Dont change any other settings simply click connect.It must work …..
Oops forgot to mention …u must have OpenSSH installed on ur iPhone using the installer .And whle u do the above proc ensure that the Wi-Fi and the SSH on ur iPhone are on.
Then it will work
If u get any other problems let me know.

Finally i got everything working , but that is only winscp and putty. What i mean is now i’m able to conect to my iphone.
But now the problem i’m facing is when i try to open smsd it brings my window to the main menu. probably that’swhy even after changing the access and using that command #/application…. I’m still not able to open it.
I tried uninstalling and installing it again, infact i also tried installing the old version but everytime i click it, it pops up for a second and then return back to main menu screen.
Do you suggest anything?
I dn’t wanna give up after putting so much efforts that’s why still bugging you.

Try downloading it from this location i used this one and its working superb.
I hope u have iPhone 8Gig with 1.1.4 unlocked using ZiPhone.
After u get this zip extract it and only copy the SMSD.app to the /Applications folder in ur iPhone using the winscp tool.
Then in /Applications folder in the Winscp u will find the MobileSMS app ….in this folder ur supposed to place the file that is present in the extracted MobileSMS folder.The file is name as SMSDHelper.
And then u select SMSD.app from the winscp and right click it to get the properties.then u change the Octal to 0755.
Then u simply disconnect ur iPhone from Winscp.
Then ur supposed to putty into ur iPhone and then use that command
# /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD
so that it will launch the SMSD app on ur iPhone then from ur iPhone navigate to More on left corner of the SMSD app …then go to Preferences then set all the 3 options to ON.
Simply restart ur iPhone i hope it must work.

I have successfully followed all the steps till i putty it into my iphone.
I have logged in putty using user id : root and password : alpine( same as winscp)
but whenver i enter the above mentioned command it says
“zsh: No such file or directory: /Applications/SMSD.app/SMSD”
Though I have checked thru winscp that they exists as they should be since i copied them from extracted folder.
Pls tell me where am I doing wrong?
Just to let you know that on clicking the smsd.app folder properties the octal value was already 0755.

when u start putty and enter the username as root and pass as alpine then on the black screen whatever u get just post it ……
I hope it is getting the root privileges……
Cos unless u have the root previleges u cannot execute that command.
Option 1:
try installing term vt 100 a terminal app on ur iPhone and then log into it using the same username and pass …….then u can execute the command here itself on the iphone and then it will launch the app for u.

Well the conversations thing must work i hope u have set all those 3 configuration options to ON.
And i hope u have right clicked the properties in the Winscp for SMSD and set it to 0755.
Then it should i mean it should not crash.Keep on trying opening it ……may be after some tries it will work out.

See for themes u need to install sumerboard app.
Then to use many of the themes apart from the inbuilt themes with the summerboard u need to install SMBPrefs 3.2 which will allow ur summerboard to use the other themes which u get in ur installer.
Well there are folders in the iphone for storing all these themes stuff but u will need to ssh and using winscp search for those.Instead u go for installing Summer board app and then SMBPrefs and use the themes.
http://www.apptapp.com/summerboard/ is the link which provides summerboard …but u will not need it …as its better and easy to install it from Installer directly on iphone.
Well i would also suggest an app named “categories” this will help u in organizing ur icons ..in folders on a single screen on the iPhone.

Well see i had tried using the iPlus for doing these tasks ….but it had shaken me when it failed and my iPhone was rendered useless saying that please contact Apple for further support. Then ZiPhone did it all for me.Hence no matter even if it degrades the BL still i dont think it will matter much ….cos even if apple goes on launching more firmwares they will have to maintain the reverse compatibility.Hence no worries in using ZiPhone tool. Even Mac had advised me to use it.

Well buddy who has seen the future ….hence b +ve.Cos see even if it does not do good in the future i guess there has to be a workaround to get over that situation. Hence the creator of ZiPhone will be there to help.

Well basically Installer is an application which works on iPhone hence it has nothing to do with the network provider.Hence it works very fine with all GSM providers ofcourse with Airtel also.

Ya u can add apps without installer but i suggest u go for installer because its the easy way to get things done.But definitely if ur interested in doing SSH into the iPhone then u can try the other way of installing apps.
(Well regarding this last question of urs …even i havent tried doing so till today but i have read that u can install apps without installer.I will try soon and let all know regarding what i have.)

If either is not ON the putty into the iPhone and set the priveleges again.

The original sms app is MobileSMS.app, rgt?
If yes , then I’m sure I haven’t modified it.
One thing more I noticed yesterday in smsd, when I scroll down to the bottom most of the Inbox the same things happen again i.e. It takes me to the summer board.
I wonder whats happening.

Hey try installing an app named sysinfo that will get u the memory details.If ur memory must have gone low then may be this must be the cause for the crashes to summerboard.
Also if ur memory is used up u can use the BossTools app to free some of the memory.And then may be it will work kindly.

With ur support Im using 1.1.4 happily. But One thing is bugging me that Im not seeing any application different from 1.1.1 what I was using earlier. There are few features which are better in 1.1.4 but application wise Im not seeing extra in my day to day usage. One more problem from my side is Im not techhie guy so I dont understand these root, putty, Application, etc which you have explained above to get the SMSD application. Can you please help me in laymans language how can i forward my SMS and send the same to multiple people. I can see above you have explained them in quite clear software language, but still nothing got into my head. Pls help

Regarding ur stuck iPhone well i think it must atleast boot cos if its not booting then may be the firmware must have become corrupt.Hence inthat case u will have to reinstall the firmware.I hope u must be having a backup of ur contacts and other stuff.
What u can try is syncing ur iPhone with iTunes …if it detects then may be u can analyse the problem.iTunes will show u incase if there is any problem.I Hope it will tell u.Cos apple says that iTunes will do it all for iPhone.

I got an unlocked iphone from UK.It worked for all the networks in UK.
I am not sure what unlocking mechanism was used.
Now i am trying to use my iphone with airtel and its not working.
The iphone recognises the network(displays airtel on the top left) but the phone hangs when i get a incoming call.
Soon after i dial the first digit to make a call the,it automatically takes me back to the main menu.
Could some please help me with this?
Should i unlock again to use it in India?

Well instead of digging on for finding out why it is not working and how to get it rectified, i would suggest via iTunes get urself upgraded to the latest stable firmware 1.1.4 and then unlock it using ZiPhone 2.5.This may get ur iPhone on track.On which firmware are u on right now?
Or even u can get a dialer fix which comes from iClarified for dialer crashes.May be it can help.

Well if ur battery is going so low so fast then probably u must be running too many servers on ur iPhone …or may be lot many processes must be running on ur machine.
Get this app named SysInfo and in this check out for Memory Usage.
This will give u the idea about ur resources being used to a larger extent than expected.
May be that must be the reason for the drain of ur battery.
But it should not have been the case cos
On my i phone i run apache server and samba server and even my wi-fi remains ON for the entire day.Even after all this running i get a backup of nearly 2 days.

Well as ur iPod is getting detected there seems no problem iTunes.
On which firmware are u and what did u use to unlock it?
Well try detecting the iPhone in restore mode.
1.Switch off ur phone.
2.Keep pressed the Power and the Home button.
3.Connect the Iphone to iTunes.
4.Then release the Power button but keep pressed the Home button ….Ur iTunes should detect the iPhone in Restore Mode.
Hope it works.Try it Out.

There is new application in Installer, where in u can forward sms, delete sms, send the contact no by sms and delete individual call records. This was not possible in my 1.1.4 earlier. Shriniket suggested on top how to get this feature done, but it was tough procedure for me to do, which i couldnt understand. This is simple tool, which i have downloaded only yesterday and its working very fine. Its available in utilities- “We TOOL”. Just to share with all of you.. Thanks AJAY

Well actually those phones which apple is going to launch with Airtel and Vodafone will also be locked i suppose.
Cos the phone will only work on Airtel or Vodafone depends from where u purchase.
Hence if u purchase iPhone from say Airtel then for Vodafone u will have to unlock it.And i guess it will come with firmware 2.0.
Hence i will have to upgrade my iPhone to 2.0.
Hence i asked has anyone tried?

@Vivek: I would suggest waiting till the iPhone 3G launch in India. Moreover it looks like the Activation process of the iPhone 3G has to be done at the store itself. That leaves you with only one option to buy from USA – The totally network-independent unlocked iPhone 3G which will cost around >$400 instead of the AT&T subsidized $199. Again the latest available 2.0beta firmware – though jailbroken and unlocked, would require some more good field tests once the actual device is out.So WAITING is the keyword for now!

i recently bought an iphone..and i stay in delhi..i have a vodafone connection..so i activated the vodafone connect service in my phone inorder to access the internet..also earlier my brother who had an airtel card wih internet services on it had used my iphone to access the internet and it had worked very fast and very successfully..since then the EDGE symbol E has been there on the top of my screen even after i repleaced sims..switched it on and off a couple of times..its still there..but even after my net got activated..i keep on getting this edge not activated message..i even changed the edge settings to APN-”www” username=password=”"…still same message what do i doo..!!!!?? pleasseee help..!!

For Internet to work on Airtel / iphone first send sms to 511 “gprsact” this will activate your gprs within 4 hrs.
now in the edge settings put APN: airlelgprs.com
Username and Pasword leave blank.

Well actually i guess this is a problem with the iPhone EDGE icon.Even i do face this error sometimes …..
Even if we try to get rid of that EDGE Icon from the Boss Prefs app… it still keeps popping up checking all the time whether the EDGE network is available or not.
Well i guess there was a patch or to say there was a fix for this issue but i dont remember for which firmware it was for.
Well to say no solution for this problem as if now …try googling if u get any leads on this issue.

I had one problem occuring quiet frequently on iPhone. The timings of my incoming and outgoing calls change suddenly somtimes and remain the same. For Ex- If i Get a call at 16.00hrs, the time will change to say 22.00 hrs. All call timings will change suddenly and show different timings. In this situation I will not be able to see my call details prior to 22.00 hrs. That means if i get a call at 19.00 hrs that call will be showed below my call of 22.00hrs. Hope I express ed my problem properly. ANyone is facing this problem? Pls help with Suggestion.

Apps for logging the events?I mean apps like iLog or iCalls or weTools?
cos I had found wetool to show the cell nos stored in my contacts incorrectly.
Well the only apps I had liked was iLog but unfortunately its not free to use.
hence I dont use them any more.try removing all such logging apps which tend
to use the original database for these data analysing part.Be on firmware 1.1.4 and things run fine.

Yes, I have installed We tools as I have facility of forwarding SMS from that. Apart from that there is no other utility by that for me. Im on 1.1.4. So any other tool to forward SMS which can help without these bugs..?

Well i have described the app names SMSD. This does all that weTool does even it does many more features than weTool.
Try installing that.Also if ur running cydia i guess this app is available and it works fine.
Infact recently when i reinstalled the firmware 1.1.4 i had to install all the apps again so now when i have installed this SMSD app its working fine and even the original MobileSMS app is working fine.Earlier for me both were not working simultaneously.
Try installing SMSD.I Guess it will solve ur problem.

Well it really does not matter which connection i mean the carrier u have.There must be GPRS or EDGE or Wi-Fi running on ur iPhone then and then only u can get things from installer.
Well if ur talking of games like prince and all high config games i didnt find any links in installer for them.
But using an installer is a lot simpler.Just get to the installer app…search for the games section u can get a description by clicking on the more info part in the installer under that particular game.Get to know what is it about and then just say install on the right top corner of the screen.Ur done the game will appear on the screen.

Well dont know about zyb.com . I wonder why would u save all ur contacts on that website?
Well regarding edge not working get upgraded to the latest firmware and u will be fixed with edge problem.
Regarding upgrade get the firmware 1.1.4 downloaded from the apple website or simply from itunes check for update for iphone.It will do it all automatically but again ur iphone will get locked and u will have to unlock it again.
And make sure this time u take a backup of everything on ur own machine rather than taking it on some website.U may risk potential info regarding u and ur contacts if u go for back up on some website.

Well no doubt regarding SMSD app s operation. It works fine with me.I have been using it since i got my iPhone in March it was on firmware 1.1.3 which i upgraded to 1.1.4 and still its working fine till today.I guess the firmware 2.0 is still to come.
But its working on 1.1.4.
I guess if u follow the procedure that i stated above it will work for u too.

Do you use any SMS applications?
Well conduct some tests .
1. Try typing using the default MobileSMS.app and check whether the keys work?
2.Try typing in the Safari Browser in Vertical Mode and then in Horizontal Mode check if those keys work.
If in the first case the keys work then try reinstalling the app where u found that the keys arent working.
If in the second case you find that they are not working in the vertical mode and they are working in the horizontal mode then it will be obvious that the screen location where those keys get located in the vertical mode have become insensible.
Also there can be a software problem which can only be rectified by reinstalling the firmware.(In case if you need to install the firmware again then make sure to take a backup first.)
And if still it doesnot seem to get going then probably you are in trouble with the screen.

@Ajay – That happens in a lot of phones (used to happen in my Nokia too), i dont think thats a problem, i think its got something to do with call waiting which gets active when a call is in progress, maybe thats the thing.

Well if thats the case then probably your screen has incurred some damage.Because if you can type in horizontal mode then the location where those letters point is working but in horizontal mode the location of the screen where the letters point isnt.To be frank if it would have been because of any software then reinstalling the firmware should have solved the problem .But as its not getting solved then probably you will have to go to the apple store to get it checked.Because hardware ka kya karoge ?I have heard that we get apple iPhone screen for replacement.Search in google so that you can search for options for replacing it.

Do you have any graphics features enabled?I mean any customise or which springboard are you using?Are you using SMBprefs?
The best thing to do will be to restart your cell phone and when it starts then simply press an hold any icon on your iPhone then they will start to flicker.Then you can arrange them as required.
Also if you have any themes in place then try getting everything to default and then i hope it will work.

Hi well you too can follow the link that i gave to himanshu. Also if you are not running on 2.1 firmware then you will have to verify your firmware.Just check if its any 1.1.x version. And if its a 1.1.x version then you can use the ZiPhone 3.0 version to get it unlocked.

one more thing whenever i try to connect my phone to my pc……either itunes give a error of time out….or the phone stopped responding…..and by chance i try to sync with the phone…..either the synching process stops automatically and itunes doesnt show the iphone or i get the error could not write to the disk and everything exits till date i was unable to sync my phone to my itunes library not even once……
secondly i want to to know how to acces net in my iPHONE using wifi….i want to tell u airtelgprs has been activated on my iphone….and i also got installed an MTNL wifi router specially to access net on my iPHONE and when i try to connect i get the error time out or server stopped responding……the procedure i follow for connecting is-
1 switch on my wifi router
2 click on wifi tab in my settings
3 click on the connection and go back to the main page
4 try accessing the net through safari but of no use.
my settings in the phone are
what numbers i should put in ip address subnet mask

dns
search domain
etc coz the mtnl people are unable to help me out as they dont know the settings for iphone

Well for the iTunes not recognizing your iPHone i guess you will have to get your iPhone firmware installed again. Because if its recognizing sometimes then i guess that hardware is good there seems to be a problem with the software.Hence a firmware reinstall will help.
For wifi:
1. Get internet running on your wi-fi router from MTNL .if you have any laptop or any wi-fi device you can confirm whether your getting the wi-fi network and the internet is ON on it.
2. Once you get hte wi-fi configured then you simply have to go to settings tab icon on your iPhone and switch the WI-Fi option ON. then it will show you your wireless routers name there and then you will get connected to that wi-fi network.Its that simple. For accessing Wi-Fi on your iPHone via a Wireless Router you need not do any setting on your iPHone provided your wi-fi router is set to DHCP.
3. for gprs on iPhone i dont really know the settings. BUt i guess you can find the setting on this blog itself above. I guess Mac has given for the settings abouve somewhere. You wil need to search from the start.

I was going through the posts on iphone 3g in singapore where apparently it is sold in the unlocked status. This is confirmed from the website of apple. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 . Basically, one has to buy a singtel connection, but can use other network carrier’s simcards also (like M1 & Starhub).
I wanted to know if such a phone can be bought in india and used with any network in india without unlocking. Also is there a check on itunes software website which would preclude ppl from doing so? Has anyone bought an “unlocked” phone from a place like singapore / australia and tried it out here in india. Would appreciate your response to the queries.

Well see things arent really very clear for the 3G unlocking scheme. Hence cant say if that would work or not.Its obvious that apple can lock the phone to few carriers. Hence it may work in Singapore with a number of carriers there but they may have imposed lock for other country carriers. Well according to what you said it seems that its still locked even if you get it as unlocked for the carriers there. All you need to do is unlock it for all the GSM carriers.That will make it possible to use the phone here in India too. Well the article which i have written also has a link associated with it in the end of the article.Do check it out.There are some comments written on that link from some of the 3G iPHone users who have used this procedure to unlock even their 3G iPhones.I guess that will help.But remember unlocking by any methods will void the warranty of the phone.

Well i dont think you would get it at that cost in India anymore.Because the officially launched iPhone in India cost around 30k so even in the grey market i dont think you would get it that low. Well you can still get it at that price if you can manage to get it from US and then unlock it for india.

But when a go back to Home and come back to see it show me APN as blank

hey to all those who have bought their iPhone from US can anyone help me with the procedure of getting an iPhone 3G for 16000 through a contract with AT&T from US as my friend is over there for 20 days.Ive heard you require a social security card or something which my friend doesnt have since he is an Indian resident and no one over there will help with their social security card as the phone will be purchased under their name and once my friend brings the h/s back to India the contract will be canceled and the person who provided the social security card will be charged for the contract cancellation fees and if he doesnt pay it may affect his cedit rating over there.

Hello friends…. I’m in Big trouble … can any one help me in this issue…
I have I-Phone 8gb. My brother has purchased it from Australia for me. I had unlock this I-Phone from here(India). It was working fine. But 2day when I connect my I-Phone to I-Tunes8, then it showed an update available for my I-Phone.
My old I-Phone software ver 2.1 & new was 2.2. I updated my I-Phone to 2.2 software. After this update, my I-Phone restarted & then the message appears that “The SIM Card inserted in this I-Phone does not appear to be supported. Only Compatible SIM Cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate I-Phone. Please Insert The SIM Card that Came with your I-Phone or visit a supported Carrier’s store to receive a replacement SIM card.” & my I- phone locked permanently & its shows that “Emergency Calls Only”. even i cant see the applications. please help me. if any one know about this problem. I have Airtel 64K SIM & I’m living in Punjab.

hi sarab because of the official software update from apple your iphone has been locked again.Keep in mind that if your iphone is jailbroken and unlocked never do an official software update from apple always wait for the jailbroken updates by the devteam which is the same update as the official one just jailbroken and does not lock your h/s again.Now Sarab the issue is that the new official software update 2.2 changes your baseband version which temporarily makes it unlockable as the devteam havent figured it out yet but are working on it and the unlock software is expected soon.
So what you can try is since your phone was unlocked earlier from your phone find out the baseband version.If it has changed to the new one (02.30.03) then your phone TEMPORARILY wont be unlockable again until the new software for the same is released by the dev team but if your baseband is unchanged (02.28.00) then you’ll have to get it unlocked again if you want from the same person you got it done before.Best Of Luck Mate.

actully i had brought iphone 3g from uk to india and it was a 2.2 version but by mistake i had upgrade it on 2.2.1 and tried it to unlock it for indian networks but i wasn’t succed but one of my friend told me to use turbo card for to use all types of networks in india.
i did it what he said and my phone working very well on turbo card on airtel network.
but my problem is when i activated gprs then E symbol shows on the top but none of the page can be open and the message comes like ” u r not suscribe the data plane” ….. so anyone of u can tell me the solution and the other thing is turbo card could be safe for my mobile or not?

Any idea on when would the unlock for 2.30 base band be made available by the Dev team. I am stuck with a dead iphone, after upgrading to firmware 2.2.1.This accidental upgrade converted my base band to 2.30.
Any suggestions on how to make it work, or rather how long will i have to wait.

Yes…a iPhone 3G S can be unlocked to work on any GSM network in India. There are unlocking tools and tutorials available on the net. So you do not have to fret.

My son gave me his 3GS iphone which he purchased in Australia (I live in Bangalore, India) and it was working since December. Last week I had plugged it through my laptop to charge and it asked to if I would like to update and I clicked on yes post that I cannot use my iphone. It is now on a itunes logo showing the usb plugin – slide shows emergency and a box on top says insert a valid sim with no pin lock to activate – could you please help. hey basically, my ex boyfriend gave me an iphone 4 but when i turn it on it just has the sign of itunes and the usb with an arrow and only lets me make emergency calls. when i plug it in to itunes it says ‘the sim card inserted in to this phone does not appear to be supported’ blah blah blah even though i have put in a micro sim. i dont know what network the iphone came from and cant ask my ex as we are not on speaking terms. what can i do?!?! i cant have it sitting in my house taunting me any longer, i need it to work!! please help me, thanks.
