I see most of you might be downloading content off of your operator’s WAP sites like Airtel Live etc. But dont do that ,be smart and save that money , get stuff via bluetooth from others. Plus if you have a data cable , you can easily transfer free ringtones and images from your computer to use as wall papers on your computer. Remember all these tricks used by your operator are only tactics to lure you to spend money during the holiday season , the truth is they dont care if you have a jolly time or net till the time they are going laughing all the way to the banks.

Plus some more news , airtel has now decided that special SMS rates will not be applicable on special holiday days, so think before you type that !

For the poor soul who searched for Airtel Live GPRS settings and landed here, you will first need to get Airtel Live activated by calling your customer care.
Internet Settings:

1. Connection Name: Airtel Live!
2. Data Bearer: GPRS
3. Access Point Name: airtelfun.com
4. Username: MSISDN e.g. 9198xxx xxxxx
5. Prompt Password: No
6. Password: < blank >
7. Homepage: http://live.airtel.in

In case of the WAP 2.0 complaint phones, the following extra settings need to be done:

Under Options > Advanced Settings

1. Phone IP Address: Automatic
2. Primary name server: 0.0.0.0
3. Second. Name server: 0.0.0.0
4. Proxy server. address: 100.1.200.99
1. Proxy port number: 8080

Opera mini it seems is everyone’s favourite , why shouldnt it be , the way it renders huge pages into a few kbs is ultracool. So many people had asked me how to scrap in Opera Mini on Orkut , the answer is simple (If you want to see how to login using Opera Mini onto Orkut , see our previous post

Xbox beat the Playstation 3 to the launch pad and with an almost simultaneous launch in even non niche markets like India Microsoft did everything right to ensure that this baby didnt need to go on the back foot. With three 3.2 GHz processors , the Xbox 360 was the first of the new generation Gaming Consoles and truly revolutionized the whole industry , making the consumers feel wanted. The Xbox 360 as the name suggest will truly make the world go around.

Domain Name - The word fauxto , doesnt ring anything in my mind , so the domain name is not so pleasing in my opinion.

The Service - Still in Beta with new features being added regularly it seems , the application runs on Adobe Flash Player and loads pretty quickly. The interface is impressive and may remind people of Photoshop. Features wise the service still has very limited functions. The service offers five brush types , namely , round , diagonal , spatter , diagonal spatter and smear. The brushes take some practice getting used to. The text tool has 12 fonts , all the common ones , no flashy ones.

Overall - The service didn’t impress me much , although it has the potential to be big in the coming days. Maybe because its in beta its a bit sluggish , and will be better later on. Lets hope this one makes it big.

I went over to a friend’s blog, and i was surprised to see the links having a tooltip which was actually the thumbnail of the site it was linking to. What a perfect way to know beforehand what the site you are going to open looks like , the service was being provided by snap.com. They have a cool domain name no doubt , but hows their service ? , I checked out the site and i was really impressed. The only thing which may deter people from using this service is the fact that the tooltip must have a link to snap.com , anyway all free services have backlinks these days. Another one of my favourite things , the meta refresh tag is a powerful tool. A common meta refresh command will look like

<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”600″>

This command is put in the tag of your document. the tells that the tag is meta. The http-equiv=”refresh” sends a command equivalent to the HTTP refresh command which tells the browser to refresh the content. 120 is the time in seconds after which the page should refresh itself.

A further modification of this command exists :-

<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”10;url=http://wisetechie.com”>

Here instead of the page refreshing you to same URL , you are in concept redirected to a new URL.

Yahoo!’s Web crawler recognizes standard HTTP result codes. The basic types of redirect recognized are:

• 301 - Permanent Redirect
• 302 - Temporary Redirect

This means you should keep the delay as low as possible , 0 seconds i recommend if you want search engines to think of your refresh as a hard redirect. That way SEO doesnt suffer.

We have been trying to find a good wordpress theme which is free and so far we have had little luck, primarily because the themes look all well and nice in Firefox , but in Internet Explorer horror strikes, one thing flies there another one here and the third one there. All the more reason for our readers to use Firefox till the formatting issues are resolved by the people at Microsoft , maybe i should try and see what the site looks like in Internet Explorer 7.
